2017 WMBL Season Previews for the Yorkton Cardinals & Melville Millionaires

The Yorkton Cardinals are kicking off their 2017 Western Major Baseball League season on Thursday night as they host the Regina Red Sox at Jubilee Park (7:05 PM)

The Cardinals are coming off one of their best seasons in team history where they finished 2nd in the East Division with a record of 28-19 but fell in the East division Final to the eventual league champion Swift Current 57's.

Canora product and reigning WMBL Pitcher of the Year Kody Rock is slated to get the ball for the Cards in their season opener.

Also before the opening pitch the Cardinals will be holding a tribute for long-time manager Bill Sobkow, who passed away suddenly this past September.

Chat with 2nd year Cards Head Coach Bryn Biancalana

The Melville Millionaires begin their 2017 Western Major Baseball League season on Thursday night at Pirie Field as they host the Weyburn Beavers at 7:05 PM.

The Mils had a record of 11-37 last season and haven't made the playoffs since the team won their first ever WMBL title over the Medicine Hat Mavericks back in 2013.

Meanwhile, Prairie Co-op will be holding a Melville Millionaires Home Opener BBQ on Thursday from 10AM to 1PM at the Co-op Grocery store in Melville.

Come on down to meet the players and coaches and grab some lunch. Burger and Drink is $6 while a Hot Dog & Drink is $4.

2017 Mils season tickets will also be available for purchase.

Chat with Wes Hunt, who returns to the Rail City for the 2nd straight year this time as the teams Head Coach.
