Local Recap of 2018 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships
The 2018 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships wrapped up over the weekend in Membertou, Nova Scotia.
In the Female division, Team Manitoba captured the Gold Medal with a 5-3 win over Ontario South. Swan River's Kaila Powell was a member of Team Manitoba.
Meanwhile in the Bronze medal game, Team Saskatchewan slipped by BC 4-3 in overtime to claim 3rd place. Saskatchewan featured Ochapowace products Jordyn and Kyla Bear.
In the Male Division Gold Medal game, Team Saskatchewan surrendered 4 unanswered goals including the game winner in overtime as Team British Columbia came back to win it all, 6-5 in OT over Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan had local products Alex Moar, Kishaun Gervais and Josh Bear, Yorkton Rawtec Mauler D Danton L'Heureux and Yorkton Terrier prospect Austin Lamotte
Meanwhile, Team Manitoba beat Ontario South 4-1 to capture the Bronze.
