Friday Night Local MJHL/SJHL Recap

The Swan Valley Stampeders snapped their 6 game losing streak in convincing fashion with a 7-2 win over the Selkirk Steelers on Friday night.

The Steelers struck first just 8:51 in as Tyson Smith's wrap-around sneaked by Loic Mainguy-Crepault for his 9th of the season to make it 1-0.

But the Stampeders responded though just 43 seconds later on the PP as Adam Rajsigl's point shot was deflected nicely by Swan River's Trey Sauder, for his 13th of the season making it 1-1.

Swan Valley grabbed their first lead late in the period on a beautiful finish from Justin Keck, for his team leading 17th making it 2-1 for the visitors after 1 period.

In the 2nd, the Stampeders added to their lead with a couple more PP goals just under a minute to make it 4-1 just 4:11 into the period.

Swan Valley added a couple more in the 2nd off the sticks of Warren Marcotte (PP) and Jakob Jones to make it a 5 goal game.

But newcomer Rhett Marchant sniped his 1st as a Steeler with 3:49 left in the middle frame to make it 6-2 SV after 40 minutes.

Landon Gulutzan added his 2nd of the season for the Stampeders, which was the only marker of the third.

Loic Mainguy-Crepault made 23 saves to earn 7th win of the season while Josh Kirton made 27 stops in the loss.

The Stampeders' wrap up their road-trip on Saturday in Niverville.
