Terriers drop home ice decision on Wednesday to visiting Ice Wolves

The Yorkton Terriers put together a strong effort on home ice but weren't rewarded as they fell 4-2 on Wednesday to the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

In a 1st period that was dominated by the Terriers, it was the Ice Wolves that got the only goal as SJHL leading scorer Mason Bueckert capitalized on a Terrier turnover and potted home his 5th of the season to make it 1-0 after 1 period.

The top-ranked Ice Wolves powerplay added to to their lead early in 2nd as while up two-men, Parker Layton walked in from the left point and sniped home his 1st of the year over the left shoulder to make it 2-0 then just over 3 minutes later Seth Dragan tapped in a rebound by Caleb Allen for his 2nd to give the visitors a three goal advantage after 40 minutes.

In the 3rd, the Terriers finally got some offensive luck as 11:18 into the period Dylan Ruptash finished off a nice feed from Clay Sleeva & buried home his 3rd to make it 3-1.

Just 2 minutes later the Terrier cut their deficit within one as Regina's Cade Kennedy completed a nice passing play from linemates Ruptash and Sleeva for his 2nd of the season.

But that's as close as the home team would get as Rylan Silzer iced it into the empty net with 5 seconds left to help the Ice Wolves snap a three game slide.

Ice Wolves goaltender Topher Chirico was the difference making 40 stops to earn the win, while Terrier netminder Caleb Allen stopped 12 of 15 shots in the losing cause.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night at the Westland Insurance Arena, but before that the Ice Wolves continue their roadie on Friday night visiting the Melville Millionaires
