The Yorkton Hyundai Terriers had their 4 game win streak snapped on Friday night as they were shutout, 3-0 by the Weyburn Red Wings at the Farrell Agencies Arena.
The Red Wings would get the games first goal as Shayde Peterson would capitalize on a rebound in front and get it past Phillipe Bond for his 4th of the season to make it a 1-0 lead. They would add to their lead just under 8 minutes later as they would capitalize on another Terrier turnover, this time though would be Braden Birnie who notched home his team-leading 7th of the season to give the visitors a two goal lead after 20 minutes of play.
After a scoreless 2nd period the only goal of the 3rd would be a empty netter by Jaxon Tait to ice the game for the Wings.
Joseph Young turned aside 35 Terrier shots to earn his 2nd shutout of the season while Terrier G Phillipe Bond made 22 saves in the loss.
The Terriers will wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule on Saturday night when they visit the Estevan Bruins with puck drop at 7:30 from Affinity Place.

SJHL partners with STARS for new 50/50 Lottery
The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) is pleased to announce
that it has partnered with STARS air ambulance to form the STARS/SJHL
50-50 Lottery.
The Lottery will last through the remainder of the 2019-2020 SJHL season. Each SJHL team will host a STARS game night, in which 50-50 lottery tickets will be sold. Half of the proceeds will go to the winner, and the rest will be divided equally by STARS and the SJHL.
Bill Chow, President of the SJHL, stated, “STARS has made a significant impact across Saskatchewan, saving many lives with their air ambulance service. We hope that the 50-50 Lottery partnership with STARS helps raise the funds needed to replace the STARS air ambulance fleet in Saskatchewan.”
Since its inception in 1985, STARS has flown over 42,000 missions across Western Canada. Last year alone, STARS flew 812 missions in Saskatchewan. The proceeds to STARS from the SJHL partnership will support the non-profit’s fleet renewal efforts in the province through a community-based initiative called The Pegasus Project.
“Just as the SJHL was built for communities by communities, so was STARS. Both organizations want to invest in our communities and so the progressive 50-50 fundraiser is a good way, said Tammy Beauregard, development officer with the STARS Foundation. “The 50/-0 is a win-win for both organizations and a lucky winner!”
In addition to ticket purchases at the games, people can support the initiative and get a chance at winning by going to SJHL5050.ca to purchase tickets.
The 50-50 lottery runs until March 6.

Stampeders' win 5th straight after big home ice victory over OCN
The Swan Valley Stampeders earned their 5th straight victory in a big way on Wednesday night after a 7-2 win over the OCN Blizzard at the Centennial Arena.
Ryley Lanthier would open the scoring for the Stampeders in the 1st just 2:33 in as he chipped in with his 4th marker of the season to make it an early 1-0 lead.
The Blizzard would respond though quickly as Aidan Litke would finish off a nice passing play from Ryan Butler and Boston Bird for his 2nd career MJHL goal to pull OCN even at one goal apiece.
But the Stamps came back with 3 unanswered off the sticks of Luke Beerman (12), Tommy Cardinal (12) and Daunte Fortner (4) to give the home-side a 3 goal lead at 4-1 after 20 minutes of play.
Swan Valley would continue their offensive outburst very early in the second as just 3:37 in, Crosby, Minnesota product Josh Maucieri would walk in from the OCN blue-line and snipe home his 4th of the campaign over the left shoulder of Zack Cloutier, then after that Frazer Dodd added another to make it a 6-1 Stamps advantage, 8:34 into the middle frame.
The two teams would exchange goals towards the 2nd half of the period off the sticks of Jaxon Blight (OCN) and Nathan Carl (SV) to wrap up the scoring summary on this night.
Mikael Foucher made 27 saves on 29 shots in the Swan net to earn his 14th victory of the season while Danick Rodrigue started the game for OCN & allowed 4 goals on 18 shots through 1 period before Zack Cloutier came in and turned aside 18 shots in relief.
The Stampeders' will wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule on Saturday night when they entertain the Portage Terriers at the Centennial Arena.

Captain Chantz Petruic cashed in with 4 goals to lead the Yorkton Hyundai Terriers to a 5-3 victory over the Nipawin Hawks on Tuesday night.
Petruic's big night now puts him at a league leading 42 goals on the season.
Steven Norum had the other goal for the Terriers while Kaedan Taphorn & Tanner Sklaruk chipped in with 3 and 2 assist nights respectively.
Carson Erhardt, Jordan Simoneau and Michael Makarenko replied for the Hawks.
The Terriers' will play their final home game before the Christmas break on Friday night when they host the Weyburn Red Wings. GX94 will broadcast the game with the "Sask Milk" pregame show kicking off at 7:20 and the play by play starting at 7:30 from the Farrell Agencies Arena.

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines let a 4 goal lead slip away as they fell on home ice, 5-4 to the Winnipeg Blues.
Jaymes Knee had 1G 2A to lead the Wolverines while Rayman Bassi, Kris Bladen, and Conrad Phillips chipped in with singles.
Liam Tereposky made 18 saves on 23 shots in the losing cause.
Logan Danis (2), Mikol Sartor, Braden Fischer and Mitchell Joss scored for the Blues.
The Wolverines return to action on Saturday night when they visit the Dauphin Kings.

Selkirk Steelers slipped by the Dauphin Kings 5-2.

Duck Mountain Curling Report- Dec. 11th
The Duck Mountain Super League, featuring men’s curling teams from Canora, Benito, Norquay
Madge Lake and Kamsack, is back for another season.
Play for all eight teams got underway at the Broda Sportsplex in Kamsack November 12. Two
more draws were completed in Kamsack November 19 and November 26. Curling then shifted to
Norquay December 03.
League leaders, both with 3 wins, are the Ken Newell team of Norquay, sponsored by Challoner
Farm, and Fred Perepiolkin’s crew of Kamsack, sponsored by Nykolaishen Farms.
Tied for second place with 2 wins each are Rick Kinaschuk of Benito, sponsored by W.F.
Schneider and Son, Richard Jordens of Madge Lake, sponsored by Ritchie Industries, and Tyson
Leis of Kamsack, still looking for a $300 backer.

Jordens faces Ken Newell, Tyson Leis goes against hometown favorite Bob Kolodziejski, Fred

compete in Kamsack Novevmber 19, have scheduled a make-up game December 20. The
outcome of this game will determine final league standings.
Duck Mountain Super League teams are awarded $50 per win in regular season play. The top 4
teams advance to A-Side Playoffs set for January 03 in Kamsack where they will compete for
$830 in prize money. A B-Side Playoff will also take place.
The public is welcome to attend these curling events. Admission is free.

Berkeliev's 1st SJHL shutout leads Mils to road victory in Wilcox
The Melville Millionaires' earned their 2nd straight victory on Tuesday night as they blanked the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox by a score of 2-0.
The Mils would get the only goal of the first and it would come a man short as Luke Nkwama would show off his good speed and get a partial break and his shot go that went off the blocker of Riley Kohonick right into the slot for Rin Beny who made no mistake over his right shoulder for his 3rd of the season to give the Mils the 1-0 advantage after 20 minutes.
Shots after 1 were 11-10 Notre Dame.
In the 2nd, the Mils would continue to lead the game 1-0 for most of the period until they would add their 2nd short-handed goal of the game as captain Aidan Steinke playing in his 1st game since Nov. 5th would get his 7th of the season slipping it over the shoulder of Kohonick to make it a two goal through 2 periods of play.
Shots after 2 was 25-16 Hounds (14-6 for ND in 2nd)
Both teams had some chances in the 3rd but it would end up as a scoreless period.
Mils' netminder Berk Berkeliev made 36 saves to earn his 1st SJHL shutout while Riley Kohonick made 20 saves on 22 saves in the loss in the Hounds' net.
The Mils will wrap up their pre-Christmas break schedule on Saturday night when they visit the Humboldt Broncos.
Elsewhere in the SJHL,
Melfort Mustangs edged the La Ronge Ice Wolves 4-3 in the shootout.

Conrad Phillips recorded a Hat- Trick to lead the Waywayseecappo Wolverines to a 5-2 victory over the Dauphin Kings.
The win also snapped the Kings 7 game winning streak.
Rayman Bassi and Jack Kennedy also scored for the Wolverines while Liam Tereposky turned aside 25 shots in the win.
Grady Hobbs and Austin Lamotte replied the Kings.
The Wolverines will return to action on Thursday night when they visit the Virden Oil Capitals.
Other MJHL result:

Local Junior A Weekend Recap
SUNDAY
The Swan Valley Stampeders wrapped up their 3 game in 3 nights road-trip on Sunday on a high note as they used a 6 goal third period to lead them to a 7-3 victory over the Winnipeg Blues.
The Stamps fell 3-2 in OT on Saturday in Steinbach after defeating the Pistons on Friday night, 5-2.
Nathan Carl (2G 1A) and Mattias Dal Monte (1G 2A) led the Stamps with 3 points each while Ryley Lanthier also scored twice.
Parker Johnson and Frazer Dodd chipped in with singles while Stamps' G Jayden Little made 19 saves on 22 shots to earn his 1st MJHL victory.
The Stampeders' will head on the road for another 3 game trip this weekend starting on Friday night against the Selkirk Steelers.
SATURDAY

Chantz Petruic scored his league-leading 34th and 35th goals of the season for the Terriers while Alec Zawatsky also had a big night with 1G 2A.
Kaeden Taphorn and Jordan Guiney also scored for the Terriers who got a solid performance from Ryan Ouellette who stopped 38 shots in the win.
