The Yorkton Terriers drew first blood with a 3-1 home ice victory over the Melville Millionaires to take a 1-0 series lead in the Best of 7 Sherwood Final.
Jeremy Johnson got things going with his 2nd goal of the playoffs to give the Terriers an early 1-0 lead.
Nathan Boyer of the Mils would tie it up at 1 early in the middle frame with his 5th of the playoffs but Johnson would add his 2nd of the night with an identical drive down the off wing and slipped it five hole on Alex Wakaluk to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.
J Johnson would add his hat trick goal from a very weird again for his 4th of the playoffs to give the Terriers a 3-1 victory.
Dawson McAuley got the victory In net while Alex Wakaluk was tagged with the loss.
The hometown Terriers definately look like the fresher team more than the Millionaires and they used their home ice to their advantage.
But the series shifts back the HCUC in Melville for Game 2 on Saturday Night 7:20/7:30 on GX94
----
In the North Final, Neil Landry got the Double OT winner as Humboldt won Game 1 over Flin Flon.
