Analysis:.

The Yorkton Terriers and Melville Millionaires advanced into the Sherwood Conference in kind of you can say 2 different ways, the Terriers ended their Sherwood Semi-Final Series in just 5 games over the Estevan Bruins with the only bump in the road coming in Game 2. While the Melville Millionaires they had a grueling 7 games series against the Notre Dame Hounds where they were on multiple occasions almost eliminated by a very stingy Hounds hockey club. The Terriers up front have been led in the playoffs by 20 year old Terrier rookie Patrick Martens who has 7 goals in 5 games in the playoffs including a hat trick in the series clincher over Estevan while Tyler Giebel, Jeremy Johnson and Josh Ellis have been solid up front as well with the likes of Tayler Thompson, Kailum Gervais and Nathan Murray aBle to chip in in big ways offensively. W
hile for the Mils Russell Trudeau is on a point a game pace even without linemate Ian McNulty contributing like he can. While Boyer, Aschim and Froese a trio of 20 year olds have been solid for the Mils but the factor line of Reeve, Mospanchuk and Kilback who were outstanding in Game 7, the not known return of Christian Magnus to the forward corp and powerplay. On the backend , Yorkton has one of the deepest defences in the league with the likes of Brady and Chase Norrish , and Devon McMullen able to change a game with their speed. For the Mils, it all leans on the statud  of the teams rearguard in Brennan Ritchie who sat out Game 7 but the play of 20 year olds Kevin Woodyatt and Kyle Scaber has elevated. In goal, SJHL MVP Alex Wakaluk for the Mils was outstanding in the Hounds series and single handily saved the season with outstanding play in overtime in Game 6, while Terriers Dawson McAuley has been his solid self and has been very, very good in the Terriers net all season. Another battle woll be the SJHLs Best home team in the Terriers and the best road team in the Mils. So its going to be a battle between the Highway 10 rivals with some packed arena on the horizon and which ever team comes out will be a very good representative for the Sherwood Conferenc in the SJHLs Canalta Cup Final

  1. As long as the Terriers do not play dirty it should be a good series. Playoffs is a whole new game so let us hope the Mills will be victorius in this series. They probably have the best fans in the SJHL. They were averaging over 1200 a playoff game and game 7 was near 1800 whereas the Terriers could not surpass 800 for the zize of the city. Go Mills and play like you can.

  3. You can't do anything in Melville besides go to a hockey game because the city will be paying for that arena for the next 100 years. On the other hand you do have a fantastic arena.

  4. Well Mark we do have a beautiful facility and for all your ignorance we got 23 million from the government for it so in reality we only have to pay back 5 million....there is not that much to do in Yorkton either but at least we have a great rink...jealousy gets you nowhere.

    1. Yeah...well my dad is going to beat up your dad....haha! You do have a fantastic rink and it great to see Melville support their team. Yorkton could learn a little bit from Melville on supporting their community. Just trying to poke a little fun with the first poster and stir the pot.

  5. If the government truly gave Melville 23 million for an arena....it just goes to show you how stupid the government is. But give Melville credit for taking advantage of that stupidity.
