Stampeders now pushed to the brink after a Game 3 Double OT loss to Steinbach

The Swan Valley Stampeders stormed from a 4-1 deficit but in the end they would come up short losing in double OT 5-4 to the Steinbach Pistons to go down 3-0 in their Best of 7 MJHL Quarter-Final series.

The Pistons got off to a hot start once again in Game 3 as Daniel Taillefer would get his 1st of the playoffs just 1:02 in to make it 1-0. But just 1:56 later, Blake Jameson's would hit off the crossbar then it would go off the back side of Pistons goalie Roman Bengert and in for his 1st MJHL goal to make it 1-1. Taillefer would regain the visitors their one goal lead at 2-1 with his 2nd with a nice point shot through some traffic. The Pistons would add to their lead with just 3:21 left in the opening period as Mathieu Gomercic would sneak it home for his 1st to give Steinbach a 2-1 lead after 1 period. Shots were 14-4 Pistons.

Steinbach would keep on coming just 6:08 into the 2nd period, Connor Martin would make a nice individual effort and then go top shelf on Degraves for his 1st of the series to make it a 4-1 Piston lead. But the Stamps would continue to have some life as Colton Brausen would send a nice feed across and Daylan Creasy would one-time it top shelf on Bengert for his 1st to cut the Stamps deficit to just 4-2 after 40 minutes. Shots after 2 period were 28-13 Pistons.

The Stamps would be able to complete the come back as first off just under 2 minutes into the 3rd, Daylan Creasy would get his 1st of the playoffs on the power play to cut Swan with one at 4-3. Keaton Jameson would even it up at 6:05 of the 3rd, his 2nd of the playoff force overtime at 4-4.

The first 10 minute overtime would solve nothing and then with 3:51 left to go in the double overtime period Ryan Carlson's long point shot would go off something in front then off a couple posts and by Zach deGraves for his 1st to help the Pistons to a 5-4 win over the Stamps.

Roman Bengert made 24 saves to grab his 3rd straight win in the Steinbach goal while Zach deGraves was the much busier of the 2 goalies stopping 58 of 63 shots in the loss.

The Stamps will look to keep their season alive on Thursday when they host Game 4. Pregame show at 7:20, pxp at 7:30 MB time with Yorkton Dodge Junior Playoff hockey from the Centennial Arena in Swan River.
