Stampeders’ win streak snapped at four after road loss in Waywayseecappo

The Swan Valley Stampeders had their 4 game win streak come to an end on Tuesday night, falling 6-4 to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

The Wolverines came out in the 1st with three goals including two off the stick of Boone Mathison and one from Nolan Grier to get out to an early 3-0 lead before Noah Wilson got the Stamps’ on the board later in the 1st to make it 3-1 Wayway after 20 minutes.

Wayway add to their lead as Grier added his 2nd of the night, just 4:16 into the 2nd making it 4-1.

Swan Valley once again cut their deficit within two as Griffin Ayotte finished of a nice feed from Collin Jennings for his 3rd of the campaign. 

The two teams would exchange goals before the 2nd period buzzer went off, a hat trick goal from Boone Mathison and a short-handed marker and team-leading 10th from Stamps’ F Jakob Jones making the game 5-3 home-side after 2 periods.

Adam Rajsigl’s long point in the 3rd period, his 5th of the season brought Swan back within one, but Aiden Ziprick’s late goal in the final few minutes iced it.

Tresor Wotton made 27 saves on 31 shots to earn his 8th win of the season while Stamps’ goalie Kobe Grant also made 27 saves in the loss. 

Swan Valley returns to action on Saturday visiting the Winnipeg Blues, while the Wolverines have a home showdown with the West-division leading OCN Blizzard on Friday night.0
