Ice Wolves snap Mils 5 game losing streak

The Melville Millionaires had their 5 game winning streak on Wednesday after falling 2-1 to the visiting La Ronge Ice Wolves.

There was scoring in the 1st period but the Mils controlled the play by outshooting their opponent 17-9.

All the scoring in the hockey game would come in the 2nd period, it all started just over 11 minutes into the 2nd period as Brennan Boyd put it five-hole on Alex Wakaluk for his 5th it was 1-0 La Ronge. But the Millionaires would reply right back at 12:18 of the 2nd on the powerplay as Russell Trudeau would rip a wristshot high glove side on Myles Hovdebo for his 24th of the season to tie it a 1-1. But Louis Joseph Sawyer would give the Ice Wolves the lead for good as he was in the slot and ripped it low blocker side on Wakaluk to make it a 2-1 final score.

Myles Hovdebo was solid in the Ice Wolves goal stopping 41 of 42 shots while Alex Wakaluk stopped 18 shots but was tagged with the loss.

The Mils will return to action on Wednesday when they host the Flin Flon Bombers 7:30 HCUC

The Swan Valley Stampeders fell at home to the Virden Oil Capitals 4-2.

Kyle Smart and Braydon McDonald got the Stamps goals while Landon Noel stopped 25 shots in a losing cause.

The Stamps will host these Virden Oil Capitals once again on Saturday night 7:30 Centennial Arena.
