Stamps win their 3rd straight 6-4 over Wayway

The Swan Valley Stampeders won their 3rd straight and 2nd in a row against the Wayway Wolverines with a 6-4 victory on Friday night.

BJ Avery would open the scoring for the Stamps with his 6th of the season to give them an early 1-0 lead. But the Wolverines would come back with 2 late ones in the latter stages of the first by Johl Swedlo and Craig Fournier to give the visitors a 2-1 after 20 minutes.

In the 2nd, the Stamps would even it up quickly as Dylan Favell would get in alone behind the Wayway defence and slip it by Mitch Wiebe for his 13th to make it 2-2. Wayway would quickly respond and regain their one goal lead as Fournier would bang home his 2nd of the night to make it 3-2. It would stay like that until late in the middle frame when the red hot Nic Erb would cash in on his 26th of the season to make it 3-3 after 2.

Swan valley would come out in the third like a team possessed as they would score 2 quick goals in the opening 2 minutes of the sticks of Max Provencher and Brayden McDonald to make it a 5-3 Swan game. The Wolverines would make it interesting as Fournier would get his Hattrick goal to give them life and they would sit down a goal 5-4. But the Stamps would ice it as local product Cody Ellingson would grab a loose puck and go top shelf on Wiebe for his 1st MJHL goal to make it a 6-4 Swan final.

16 year old Lasse Pererson stopped 43 shots for the win while Mitch Wiebe turned aside 43 in a losing cause.
