SJHL's Melville Millionaires name Devin Windle as their new Head Coach/GM

After a month long search, the Melville Millionaires have finally found their guy.

The SJHL club announced at a news conference at the Horizon Credit Union Center on Tuesday night,  the hiring of Devin Windle (pictured above) as their new Head Coach & General Manager & also signed him to a 3 year contract.

"It was a long but smooth process, we had about 50 or so applicants and  the hardest thing was trying to windle those down but when the interview process started it was no-brainer on the decision", Mils President Dawn Melnychuk told reporters after the news conference.

The 28 year old Calgary, Albert product spent the last 2 seasons behind the bench of the SJHL's Nipawin Hawks as an Assistant Coach under Hawks Head Coach/GM Doug Johnson.

Before that, Windle spent a few years coaching Midget AAA in Alberta.

"I had the chance to spend 2 great years in Nipawin, and I got the opportunity to see what the SJHL is all about and when this job came up I thought it would be a good chance for me to take the next step and become a bigger part of the league", Windle told reporters.

Windle expressed how excited he is for the opportunity, "Obviously its a challenge you don't go from last to first place over night, but I'm excited there is some good pieces here and just the tradition and the support this city gives to the hockey club, I'm looking forward to being part of that"

Windle takes over behind the Mils bench, after the contract of longtime Head Coach/GM Jamie Fiesel was not renewed last month.

Windless first order of business with his new job will be attending the league's annual general meeting's this weekend and take part in the SJHL Draft which takes place on Thursday with the Mils holding the number 1 overall selection.
