The Waywayseecappo Wolverines moved into the 4th and final playoff spot in the MJHL's West division standings after a 4-2 decision over the Swan Valley Stampeders on Friday night.
The Wolverines struck first just 4:33 into the 1st as Aiden Herring deflected home an Owen Wheatley point shot for his 6th of the season to make it 1-0.
It would stay like that until late in the third as after Stamps' F Will Brown was stopped on a breakaway, the loose puck came out to Riley Fequet and he beat a screened Jace Wareham over the right pad for his 8th to tie it up at 1-1 through 1 periods.
In the 2nd period, the Wolverines took over as they scored three times off the sticks of Sam McPeak, Jackson Foster and Aiden Moser to put them in front 4-1 after 40 minutes.
Matthew Munro got the Stampeders back within two just 4:41 into the 3rd period with a powerplay goal but that's as close as they would get.
Wolverine netminder Jase Wareham earned his 9th win of the season making 23 saves on 25 shots, while Elias Giacarri-Dimitriou stops 25 of 29 in the loss.
The Stampeders return to action on Saturday night hosting Dauphin while the Wolverines entertain the Neepawa Titans for a crucial battle on Monday afternoon.
