After wrapping up their preseasons on Saturday, the Melville Millionaires and Yorkton Terriers are gearing up for the 2024/25 regular season with some moves.
First up, the Millionaires have acquired 20-year-old goalie Loïc Morin from the Northern Manitoba Blizzard of the MJHL in exchange for a player development fee.
Morin, hailing from Saint-Charles-de-Drummond, Quebec, posted a solid 14-7-0 record last season with a 2.30 GAA and a .911 save percentage over 25 games.
The Mils also welcome back 2006-born forward Raiden Zacharias, a Saskatoon native, after his preseason stint with the WHL’s Everett Silvertips.
Zacharias captained the SMU18AAAHL’s Saskatoon Blazers to their second straight league title last season, tallying 19 goals and 43 assists for 62 points in 44 games, tying for second in league scoring.
Meanwhile, the Yorkton Terriers have traded 18-year-old defenceman Cutter Knight to the Northern Manitoba Blizzard for a player development fee.
Knight, a former first-round pick in the 2022 SJHL draft, appeared in 33 games last season, contributing 5 assists.
The Millionaires open up their regular season on Friday in Estevan Bruins, while Terriers host the Weyburn Red Wings.
