Wolverines win both to kick-off 2021/22 MJHL campaign
The Waywayseecappo Wolverines (2-0-0_ began their 2021/22 seasons by sweeping the Virden Oil Capitals (0-2-0) in a home and home series over the weekend.
The Wolverines' used a 5 goal second period to beat the Oil Caps, 5-2 on Friday.
Josh Peppler, Lonan Bulger, Reese Malkewich, Troy Hamilton and Carson Baptiste scored the Wolverines, while Liam Tereposky made 36 saves in then win.
Then on Saturday, the Wolverines won by a score of a 5-1 on home ice.
Peppler, Jacob Charko, Tristen Bear, Mi-Kwan Tallman and Boston Bird chipped in offensively and Tereposky earned his 2nd straight win in goal stopping 18 shots.
Waywayseecappo will return to action on Friday when they host Virden for their 3rd straight meeting.
Stampeders drop both on MJHL Opening Weekend.
The Swan Valley Stampeders (0-2-0 fell to 0-2 early in the MJHL season after falling in both games against the OCN Blizzard (2-0-0).
Ashton Paul scored the game winner with 8:34 left in the 3rd on Friday to lead the Blizzard to a 4-3 win.
Aaron Lorenz, Riley Zimmerman and Dain Sardelli also scored for OCN, while Carter Cockburn, Jackson Betcher and Callum Fortin replied for the Stampeders.
Stamps' G Dylan Black made 32 saves on Friday in the loss.
Noah Fladager had 1G 1A for the Stampeders' but they fell 5-3 on the road to the Blizzard.
Dayvan Bull and Jackson Betcher also scored for Swan while in the loss Dylan Black made 31 saves on 34 shots.
Swan Valley and OCN will meet in 3rd of 4 straight meetings to start the season on Tuesday night in The Pas.
Millionaires split final two games with Notre Dame to wrap up preseason
The Melville Millionaires and Notre Dame Hounds split their final two games to wrap up the SJHL exhibition schedule.
Zach McIntyre tied the game in the 3rd then had the shootout winner on Saturday to lead the Moneymen to 4-3 shootout win over the Hounds.
Louis-Frederic Theberge and Aiden Robson also scored for the Mills who got 14 saves from Keaton French in the win.
Then on Sunday,
The Hounds got a little revenge in Wilcox with a 7-4 victory over Melville.
Johno Hoins led Notre Dame with 2 goals, while Connor O'Brien, Blake Rasmuson, Connor Nolan, Elliot Dutil, and Dane Probe also scored.
Noah Wills (2 goals) and Jake Spak (2 assists) led the way for Melville offensively, while Louis-Frederic and Zach Cain also chipped in with goals.
The Millionaires will open up their 2021/22 regular season for a home and home series against the Weyburn Red Wings starting on Friday night at Crescent Point Place.
Melville will then host their Home Opener against the Wings on Saturday at the Horizon Credit Union Center.
