Wolverines beat Stampeders in first meeting of MJHL season

 WOLVERINES 4,  STAMPEDERS 3

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines (4-1-0) stayed perfect on home ice after a 4-3 win on Thursday night over the Swan Valley Stampeders (2-3-0).

Logan Wotton scored twice to lead the way for the Wolverines in the win, while a short-handed goal by Josh Peppler and a power play marker by Troy Hamilton provided the other offence. 

Callum Fortin, Brad Fortin and Jordan Gagnon replied for the Stampeders. 

Wolverines' goalie Liam Tereposky made 36 saves on 39 shots to earn his 4th win of the season while Dylan Black made 31 stops in the loss.

The two teams will play the 2nd of their stretch of 4 straight meetings on Saturday night in Swan River at 7PM MB time.

In the SJHL,

JD Hall had 1G 2A against his former team, while Kale DePape made 24 saves for his 1st SJHL win as the Yorkton Terriers (1-3-0) beat the visiting Weyburn Red Wings (0-1-0) 5-1 on Thursday.

Karsten Kruska, Prescott Senger, Clay Sleeva and Enrique Fontes also scored for the Terriers while Shayde Peterson replied for the Red Wings. 

The Terriers will look for their 2nd straight win when they host the Notre Dame Hounds on Saturday night.
