Yorkton's Inglis captures Provincial Senior Women's Curling Crown
Cathy Inglis downed Merle Kopach in the Championship Final Sunday afternoon 8-2 to capture her first Provincial Senior Women's Championship in Martensville.
Inglis who finished in first place in the round-robin with a 6-1 record received a bye to the final while Kopach had to steal and upset Lorraine Arguin 9-8 in the semi-final Saturday night to advance to the final. Arguin also finished with a 6-1 record but due to the loss to Inglis in the round-robin had to settle for second place and a berth into the semi-final. Kopach was third with a 4-3 record.
Finishing out of the playoffs were Delores Syrota and Darlene Gillies with 3-4 records, while Jacqueline Swiderski, Lori Cyca and Brenda Goertzen finished at 2-5.
Inglis along with her rink Pat Kuspira, Donna Liebrecht and Bev Fuches will represent Saskatchewan at the Canadian Senior Championship in Summerside, PEI, March 16-24, 2013.
