Clark's Heroics lead Mils into 1st in Viterra with win over Humboldt

The Melville Millionaires moved into sole possession of 1st place in the Viterra division with a 2-1 win over the Humboldt Broncos.

The Broncos controlled the 1st period especially the first 10 minutes as they were out shooting the Mils 9-0 but Isaiah Plett kept them in the game with some big saves. The Mils then would get a powerplay and they would convert on it as Landon Farrell would pounce on a rebound for his 11th goal of the season to give the Mils a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

The 2nd period was a little more even, and a little more back and forth, but the middle frame would end with no scoring and still a 1-0 Mils lead after 2 periods.

In the 3rd period, the Broncos would get an early powerplay and would convert as Jarrett Fontaine would get his 9th to even the game up at 1-1. The score would stay like that until 1:33 left in regulation when Ashton Clark (pictured above)  would get pulled down and would be rewarded a penalty shot and he would make no mistake for his 3rd of the season to give the Mils a 2-1 win.

Isaiah Plett stopped 30 of 31 shots for his 19th win while Rylan Pashovitz stopped 20 in a losing cause.

The Mils next action in the first half of a weekend home and home on Friday when they visit Nipawin. They'll host Nipawin on Saturday.
