Stamps get dumped 6-1 in Dauphin on Monday night

After a very solid effort on Friday night when the Swan Valley Stampeders got back on the win track, the Stamps had a disappointing effort on Monday night as they lost 6-1 to the Dauphin Kings.

It wasn't the start that the Stamps wanted in the 1st period as at one point in the 1st frame they were outshot 10-4 as Graham Hunt played very solid between the pipes for the Stamps but the Kings would get one past him as Cameron Whyte's nice backhander would go top shelf to give Dauphin a 1-0 lead after 1 period of play.

In the 2nd period, it got a little better for the Stamps as they were actually able to get some scoring chances which including a Max Flanagan breakaway but he couldn't convert. Dauphin would make them pay as  Jared Morris and Dillion McCombie would chip in with King's goal in the period to give the Kings' a 2 goal lead after 40 minutes.

The 3rd period would start with maybe a little controversy as Flanagan would get another opportunity when he had a wide open net and from my vantage point and from other sources around arena they said it went in, but the refs didn't think so and then the Kings' Braydon Cuthbert would come back the way and score to make it a 4-1 lead, which could've easily been 3-2. The King's would add two more as Tanner Lomsnes and McCombie his 2nd of the night, would give them a 6-1 lead and that's where it would end for a Dauphin victory.

Michael Stilliadis stopped 22 shots for his 13th win of the season, while Graham Hunt stopped 33 in a losing cause.

The Stamps next action will be Friday when they host the Winnipeg Blues at 7:30 from the Centennial Arena.

**Our next Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey broadcast will be Sunday when the Stamps visit the Wayway Wolverines, pregame 7:20, play by play 7:30 on GX94.
