Local producs named to Hockey Manitoba POE U-16 Top 40 roster

Hockey Manitoba is pleased to release the roster for the 2017 Program of Excellence Top-40 Camp held May 4-7 in Winnipeg, MB.  This camp will be the second phase of the Hockey Manitoba U-16 (Male) Program of Excellence (POE) which is the provincial high performance development and selection program that leads to the formation of U-16 Team Manitoba.  The final U-16 Team Manitoba roster will compete at the 2017 Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup hosted by the Western Hockey League, October 18-22 in Calgary, AB.
The U-16 POE Top-40 Camp will see a total of fourty-eight (48) players invited, comprised of twenty-six (26) forwards, sixteen (16) defensemen, and six (6) goaltenders.  The invite list also includes two under-age players born in 2003 who are invited for an exclusive development opportunity and as potentials to challenge for spots in the next phase of the program.  Should an under-age player potentially continue to challenge for a final roster spot later this fall a special exemption application process will be required to be filed by Hockey Manitoba to gain an under-age exemption status.

On the ice, the intensive nature of the camp schedule includes group practice sessions, specialized skills sessions, and six intra-squad games.  The camp also features a number of important development items off the ice featuring physical preparation presentations, mental skills coaching, team building, as well as leadership and character identification.  The majority of the potential players to be selected in the 2017 Western Hockey League (WHL) Bantam Draft on Thursday, May 4 have been invited to the U-16 POE Top-40 Camp and will have designated time allotted by Hockey Manitoba for media inquiries that day.  The four day camp will take place at Seven Oaks Sportsplex and MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg.
