City of Dauphin to host 2020 Curl Manitoba Junior Men's & Women's Curling Championships

Dauphin Junior Curling, with the support of Dauphin Curling Club and in partnership with Dauphin Recreation Services, will open its doors to over 128 junior curlers, coaches, and fans next year. Dauphin will be hosting the 2020 Canola Growers Junior Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championships from January 1-5, 2020.

“We are excited for the opportunity to showcase our facilities in action as provincials will take place at the Dauphin Curling Club and Credit Union Place,” said Gordon Wood, Host Committee Chair of the Dauphin Curling Club. “Due to the recent success of our Parkland junior curlers on the provincial and national stage, we feel this is an idea time to host a junior provincial event.”

Dauphin’s Lauryn Kuzyk represented Manitoba at junior nationals this past season playing third for Mackenzie Zacharias. There were 28 other junior curlers from Parkland competing at the junior provincials.

“Dauphin is full of talented curlers, dedicated fans, and hardworking volunteers,” said Craig Baker, Executive Director of CurlManitoba. “They are great ambassadors of the sport and we look forward to watching Manitoba’s best junior curlers compete in a community where the sport is continuously growing.”

Winners of the 2020 Junior Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championships will represent Manitoba at the 2020 New Holland Canadian Junior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships in Langley, B.C. from January 18-26.

Ticket information for the 2020 Junior Provincial Championships will be available in the fall of 2019.
