Busy Thursday for the Millionaires

Ahead of Saturday's Trade Deadline, the Melville Millionaires had a busy Thursday on the movement front.

First the Mils sent 20 year old defenseman Cole Berreth (pictured left) to the MJHL's Winnipeg Blues for future considerations. The Bowden, Alberta native had 2 goals, 8 assists for 10 points in 33 games this season.

Then Melville dealt one of their 3 goaltenders as they dealt 20 year old Troy Trombley (pictured right) to the Bonnyville Pontiacs (AJHL) in exchange for 19 year old Defenseman Mark Zvonkovic and future considerations. Ever since returning to the Mils from the Saskatoon Blades he posted a 12-12 record with 2.44GAA & 0.926SV % and 2 shutouts this season. That's means it'll be a tandem of 18 year old Trevor Martin and 19 year old Josh Bykowski for the Mils.

Meanwhile Zvonkovic is an Edmonton, AB product who in 23 games this season had 2 goals and 10 points with the Pontiacs.

The Mils also announced that they have called up 17 year old defenceman Logan Karakochuk from the Yorkton Midget AAA Maulers for the rest of the season.

In their last deal of the day, the Millionaires acquired 18 year Emerald Park, Sask product Keegan Milligan from the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the BCHL for future considerations.

Milligan had 3 points in 33 games for the Caps this season. He spent the previous 2 seasons with the Notre Dame Hounds of Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League where he had seasons of 46 and 42 points respectively with the Hounds.

Mils Head Coach/ GM Jamie Fiesel chats about his Thursday.

  1. Not surprised. Something had to be done and focussing on next year I think is a good decision. Wouldn't be surprised if we see more deals before the deadline.
