Swedlo's 4 points leads Wayway over Neepawa 5-1
The Waywayseecappo Wolverines have now won 6 of their last 9 games after a 5-1 victory on home ice over the last place Wayway Wolverines on Friday night,
In the first period, both teams got off to a slow start in the opening frame but as the period went on the teams got their legs under them and it would be Neepawa get the first fortunate break as Kyle McDonald went wide on a Wolverine defenceman and then just sent it on net and it went off a skate of a Wayway player and past goalie Mitch Wiebe for his 8th goal of the season to give the visitors a 1-0 lead after 1 period.
The middle frame is where the Wayway Wolverines would start to take over the game as just 3:21 in, Robert Briem would deflect home his team tying 18th goal of the year, to tie things up at 1-1. Before the 2nd buzzer could go the Wolverines would take their first lead of the evening as captain Alex Keena would take a nice feed from Johl Swedlo (pictured above) shorthanded and slip it by Alex Henry for his 7th to give the home team a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.
The Wolverines 4th ranked power play would take over in the 3rd as they would add 3 more goals all on the man advantage off the sticks of Keena, Johl Swedlo ( Swedlo also added 3 asssits on the night) and Montana Tanner to give the Wolverines their 18th victory of the season a 5-1 win over Neepawa.
20 year old Wayway goaltender Mitch Wiebe was once again rock solid between the pipes stopping 26 shots while Alex Henry made 33 saves in a losing cause.
