Stamps' outshoot Selkirk but fall 3-2 on home ice

The Swan Valley Stampeders dropped to 2-3 on their 6 game home stand as they dropped a 3-2 decision to the visiting Selkirk Steelers.

The Stamps got off to a very hot start to begin the game as they completely out played the opposition in the opening period outshooting the Steelers 21-7 after 1 period, but the game was still scoreless.

Any momentum that the Stampeders carried into the 2nd period was dashed just 28 seconds when Justin Derlago would bang home his 8th goal of the season to give the Steelers a 1-0 lead. It wouldn't take long til they replied again as this time Kyle Sutherland's long shot from the left point would beat Lasse Petersen for his 1st MJHL goal to push their lead to 2-0. But before the end of the 2nd period, Swan Valley would cut the Selkirk lead in half when Colton Brausen would squeeze his 4th goal of the season past Teegan Sacher to make it a 2-1 Stamps deficit after 40 minutes.

At the 14:08 mark of the 3rd, the Stamps would get the equalizer on the power play as Bo Sigurdson would deflect home a Jagger Thomas point shot to pull the Stamps even at 2-2. But less than 2 minutes later, the Steelers would put the final nail in the coffin as he would rip home a wrist shot high blocker side for his team leading 8th to make the final 3-2 for Selkirk and their 8th win of the season.

Teegan Sacher was terrific for the Steelers making 45 saves for his 1st win of the season while Lasse Petersen made 22 saves in a losing cause.

The Stamps will conclude their home stand on Saturday when they host the #2 ranked team in the country the Portage Terriers at 7:30 from the Centennial Arena.
