Belinski's 4 point night leads Waywayseecappo to a victory in Swan River

The Waywayseecappo Wolverines improved their record to 4-3-0 on the season on Friday after a 5-2 victory over the Swan Valley Stampeders at the Centennial Arena in Swan River.

The Wolverines got the only marker of the 1st period as just 2:24 in, after a nice individual effort to find himself in alone Rayman Bassi was able to slide it five-hole on Stamps' G Dylan Black for his 2nd of the season to give the visitors a 1-0 lead after 1 period with Wayway leading the shot column 13-7.

In the 2nd, Wayway would add to their lead as Mack Belinski worked his way into the Stamps' zone and then hit the trailer which was Chad Nychuk, who was playing in his 1st game with the Wolverines this season after being loaned back from the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings, sniped it home to make it 2-0 just 6:49 into the middle frame.

The Stamps' drew even just over 8 minutes later when newcomer Brad Fortin finished off a nifty feed from Cody Barnes for his 1st as a Stampeder to make it 2-1.

But the Wolverines regained their two goal lead on a short-handed goal by Mack Belinski, his 4th of the season to give the road squad a 3-1 advantage through 40 minutes.

Swan Valley cut their deficit within one once again early in the 3rd period when Brad Fortin added his 2nd of the night making it 3-2 but just over a minute later Mack Belinski added his 2nd of the night to regain the Wolverines' their two goal lead.

Rayman Bassi add his second of the night into the empty net late to seal the victory.

Wayway G Liam Tereposky improved to 3-1 on the season after making 21 saves in goal while Stamps' netminder Dylan Black turned aside 39 of 43 shots.

The two teams will meet once again on Saturday night in Waywayseecappo at 7PM MB time and just a reminder that the game will be closed for spectators.
