Stampeders 5, Blizzard 4 (OT)
The Swan Valley Stampeders' erased two 2 goal deficits to win their 3rd straight, a 5-4 come from behind win over the OCN Blizzard on Friday night on the road.
Just like a week ago the Blizzard would strike first on home-ice as Trent Crane worked his way wide on the Stamps' defender and then snuck in five-hole on Mikael Foucher for his 1st of the season to make it 1-0 just 4:18 in.
The home side added to their lead in the final minute of the first framw as Levi Thiessen finished off a nice saucer pass from Trent Crane and notched it top shelf on Foucher for his 2nd of the campaign giving OCN a 2-0 advantage after 1 period with the shots tied at 8-8.
The Stampeders' got off to a quick start in the 2nd as Jamie Valentino poked home a powerplay goal for his 1st of the year then just 35 seconds later, Callum Fortin added his second of the season to tie things up at 2-2.
But the Blizzard regained their two goal lead back though as Aiden Litke and Jaden Pashe twinkled the twine later in the 2nd to make it 4-2 OCN after 40 minutes.
In the 3rd with 7:56 left in regulation Haydn Delorme slid a cross ice pass to Alex Danis who slipped over the shoulder of Evan Van Luecken on the PP to pull the Stamps' within one before Jackson Zloty swatted home a rebound just a few minutes later to knot it at 4-4 to force the overtime period.
After a back and forth overtime period, the Stamps' caught a break as the Blizzard 3 attackers were caught deep and loose puck came out to Alex Danis on a breakaway and the Calgary product ended it with a nice wrist shot over the Blizzard goalies right pad to earn the extra point.
Mikael Foucher turned aside 32 of 36 shots to earn to improve to 3-0 on the season while Blizz G Evan Van Luecken made 43 saves in the OT loss.
The Two teams will wrap up their 4 game set against each other on Saturday night back in Swan River for a 7PM MB time face-off.
