The 2021 Western Hockey League Prospects draft took place yesterday (Thurs) as the 22 member clubs welcomed 2006-born prospects into their organizations. Locally, there was a few players selected. Porcupine Plain’s Tarin Smith was the highest selected, going 1st round 20th overall by the Everett Silvertips. Currently he has 15 points in 23 games with the Saskatoon Blazers. Parkland U18 AAA Ranger forward and Rossburn, Manitoba’s Dru Mushuamanski went in the 7th round, 141st overall to the Regina Pats, while Lipton’s Connor Miller went 9 picks later at 150th to the Vancouver Giants. Miller, a Melville Minor hockey alumni has 10 goals, 11 assists for 21 points in 23 games with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Saskatchewan U18 AAA hockey league.
