MUSTANGS 5, MILLIONAIRES 1
The Melville Millionaires lost their 4th straight game on Tuesday night, falling 5-1 to the visiting the Melfort Mustangs.
The Mils got off to a quick start as Nicolas Samson capitalized on miscue by Mustangs' goalie James Venne by sliding home his 6th of the season just 4:46 in to make it 1-0.
But just over 5 minutes later on the powerplay, Carter Anderson responded for the Mustangs going top-shelf on Alexis Giroux to even it up.
Melfort grabbed their first lead of the night late in the period on a rebound goal from Tye Scherger to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
In the 2nd, there was only one goal as Anderson added his 2nd of the night for the Mustangs just 1:57 into the period.
In the 3rd, Melfort added some insurance as first up Marco Lopez finished off a nice passing play on the PP for his 14th of the season, before Trenton Curtis added more insurance to wrap up the scoring.
Melfort G James Venne made 27 saves for his 8th victory of the campaign, while Alexis Giroux turned aside 37 shots in the loss.
The Mills' return to action on Friday night when they visit the Weyburn Red Wings, while Mustangs' entertain the Nipawin Hawks also on Friday.
HAWKS 5, TERRIERS 4 (OT)
The Yorkton Terriers had their 2 game win streak snapped on Tuesday, dropping a 5-4 overtime decision to the Nipawin Hawks.
Brody Wilson scored the game winner 1:49 into overtime while Rylan Lefebvre, Andrew Schaab, and Christian Albertson chipped in with singles for the Hawks.
JD Hall notched two goals for the Terriers' offensively, while Maddux Nollski and Erik Boers also scored.
Chase Hamm made 23 saves in the win for the Hawks, while Terriers' G Bradley Mistol took the loss stopping 18 shots.
The Terriers' will play their final game before the Christmas break on Friday night when they host the Estevan Bruins at the Westland Insurance Arena.
