Local SJHL/MJHL Weekend Recap

 SJHL

The Yorkton Terriers fell in their only game of weekend, dropping a 4-1 decision to the visiting La Ronge Ice Wolves.

Trenton Curtis had 1G 1A to lead the Ice Wolves, while Seth Dragan, Ethan Strik and Connor Abric also scored.

Logan Cyca replied for the Terriers, while Tommy Bouchard made 28 saves in the losing cause.

The Terriers will return to action on Thursday night beginning a 3 game road trip in North Battleford against the Battlefords North Stars. GX94 will broadcast the game with “Legacy Co-Op” Terriers’ hockey, pregame starts at 7:20 and play by play begins at 7:30PM.

Meanwhile for the Melville Millionaires, they lost a couple of one goal games both on home ice & on the road.

Nicolas Andrusiak and Nicolas Samson scored for the Moneymen when they fell 3-2 to the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Friday night.

Then on Saturday, Humboldt Broncos scored two goals in the opening minutes of the third period to lead them to a 2-1 win over the Millionaires.

Kayden Skulmoski’s first goal as a Millionaire was the only marker for Melville, while Ben Kotylak and Lucas Ceccerelli replied for the Broncos.

Melville is back on the ice next Friday and Saturday with a home and home series with the Weyburn Red Wings.

MJHL:

The Swan Valley Stampeders split their two home games at the Centennial Arena this past weekend.

After a 5-2 loss to Portage on Friday, the Stampeders’ bounced back with a 6-3 victory on Saturday over the Winnipeg Blues.

Myles Mason (1G 3A), Darius Makse (1G 2A) Steven Arp (2G 1A) led the way offensively for the Stampeders, while Justin Keck and Jakob Jones also scored.

Loic Mainguy-Crepault made 28 saves on 31 shots to earn the victory in goal. 

Swan Valley returns to the ice on Wednesday night taking on the Neepawa Titans.
