Millionaires' drop opener of 4 game road-trip in La Ronge

MILLIONAIRES 1, ICE WOLVES 5

The Melville Millionaires' dropped the opening game of their 4 game in 5 night road-trip, 5-1 to the hometown La Ronge Ice Wolves

The Millionaires' got off to good start in the 1st as Breckin Den Hartog's back-hander beat Ice Wolves G Topher Chirico just 2:37 into the game for his first of the season.

But the Ice Wolves' responded back quickly just 59 seconds later as Parker Layton's one-timer beat Clement Labillois over the left shoulder to make it 1-1.

The home side added two more before the 1st period media time-out arrived off the sticks of Liam McInnis and Kale Taylor to give them a 2 goal lead through 20 minutes.

In the 2nd, the Ice Wolves got the only marker on a 5 on 3 PP late as Ethan Strik finished off a nice passing play for his team-leading 9th to make it 4-1 after 2 periods.

La Ronge added the only scoring of the third on a goal by Ryley Morgan.

Topher Chirico got the win in goal for LA making 20 saves on 21 Mils' shots, while Millionaire G Clement Labilliois turned aside 50 of 55 shots.

The two teams will meet once again on Wednesday at the Mel Hegland Uniplex. GX94 will broadcast the game with the pregame beginning at 7:20 and the play by play kicking off at 7:30PM.

Elsewhere on Tuesday,
