For the first time since 2013, the Balcarres Broncs are league champs.
The Broncs beat the Grenfell Spitfires on Saturday night, 6-1 to capture the Qu'Appelle Valley Highway Hockey League title in 5 games.
"Winning it all is definitely a great feeling just for the team, organization and definitely for the community whose always behind us which was evident with the great support and turnout on Saturday," Broncs Coach Craig "Gubba" Geisler said in phone interview on Monday.
Jared Martin led the way for the Broncs with 2G 2A in the deciding game while goaltender Reece Hodson was solid once again in between the pipes and was named league's Playoff MVP.
The Broncs beat the Southey Marlins in 5 games to advance to the Final.
This was the first meeting in the Final since 1998 between Grenfell and Balcarres.
