Stampeders clinch 1st round series after convincing Game 6 win in Dauphin

The Swan Valley Stampeders booked their spot into the MJHL Final Four after eliminating the Dauphin Kings with a 4-1 win in Game 6 of their first round series

The Stampeders struck first as Collin Jennings got the puck in the high slot and made no mistake over the right shoulder of the Kings goalie for his 4th of the series just 10:42 in.

Swan Valley added to their lead just 5:12 later as Josh Danis took a feed just inside the blueline and walked in & went bar-down for his 1st career MJHL Playoff goal to make it 2-0.

The game stayed like that until just 1:33 remaining as on the powerplay, Alex Senf finished up and tic-tac-toe passing play by beating Kobe Grant over the right pad for his second of the playoffs to cut the Kings deficit in half at 2-1 through 20 minutes.

After a scoreless 2nd, the Stampeders added some insurance with 5:37 left in the third period as Trey Sauder walked in on his off wing and his wrister off the post and in for his 3rd of the playoffs before Jakob Jones iced the game into the empty net in the final minute.

Stampeder goalie Kobe Grant made 25 saves on 26 shots to earn his 4th win of the playoffs while Dmytro Kubritsky made 34 saves for the Kings in the losing cause.

The Stampeders have now advanced to Round 2 and they'll now face the Steinbach Pistons while in the other Semi-Final it will be Virden battling the Portage Terriers.
