The Terriers opened the scoring shorthanded when Brad Bowles would send a wrist shot that would get past Cole Holowenko to make it 1-0. But the Stamps would come back as the red hot Mitch Deacon would snipe one top shelf on Mitch Wiebe for his 5th of the season to tie it at 1. Portage though would regain their one goal lead when Clay Van Diest's bouncing shot from the point somehow got through Holowenko to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead after 1.
The terriers would begin the 2nd like they did the first by opening the scoring as this Shawn Bowles would get his 3rd of season to make it 3-1. Then the Stamps power play would wake up with 2 from Braydon McDonald in 2nd and to tie it up in the 3rd, and both were set up by Justin Valentino & Nic Erb. Portage would get the winner though with 5:28 remaining as Jordan Boyd would backhand one home for his 1st to give the Terriers a 4-3 win.
Mitch Wiebe would get the victory in goal stopping 34 shots while Cole Holowenko stopped 45 shots in a losing cause. Stamps power play was 2/5, Portage's was 0/5.
The Stamps will play their 2nd and final game of the Showcase on Friday when they take on Dwayne Kirkup and the Neepawa Natives at 6PM MB time start from the MTS Iceplex
