The Swan Valley Stampeders fell in defeat to the OCN Blizzard for the 2nd straight night as the Stamps lost 5-4 at home tot OCN.
The Stamps controlled most of the start of the 1st period that was until the 11:26 mark of the period when Damien Kulynych scored a powerplay goal for the Blizz to get them a early 1-0 lead. But with just 50 seconds left in the first frame the Stamps would get their own powerplay goal as Max Provencher would bang home a rebound in the slot to make it 1-1 after 1 period of play.
The Stamps would feed off that late girl in the 1st, with 2nd of the game just 20 seconds into the 2nd period as Bo Sigurson would pick up a loose puck and throw it five-hole on rookie goalie Brody Clays to make it 2-1 Stamps. Then 10:29 later the Stamps would get themselves a 2 goal lead when MJHL reigning Player of the Month, and leading scorer Mitch Deacon would pick the far side on Claeys for league leading 20th point to give SV a 3-1 lead. But that 2 goal would last until the 14:38 mark as Edward Bayer would get his 3rd goal in as many games, and the 2nd PP goal of the night for OCN to cut the Stamps lead within 1 after 40 minutes of play.
It would be another quick start to the 3rd period, but this time it would come from the OCN Blizzard as Tyler Grove would beat Cole Holowenko to tie it up at 3-3. The Blizzard would once again regain their one goal lead at 7:29 of the first as Tyler Grove would get his 2nd goal of the night to make it 4-3 Blizzard lead until 17 seconds later as Braydon McDonald would tip home the tying goal and it was 4-4. It was all tied up until the 12:29 mark of the last frame and yet again it would another OCN PP goal and again it would Kulynych getting it as he beat Holowenko from a weird angle to give him the game winner and 5-4 OCN victory.
Brody Claeys stopped 43 of 47 shots for his 1st MJHL win for OCN, while Cole Holowenko stopped 25 shots in a losing cause.
The Stamps would return to action this weekend with 2 more home games, Saturday night hosting the Winkler Flyers at 7:30 MB, before entertaining the Steinbach Pistons for a 4PM MB time afternoon affair on Sunday afternoon.
