Saturday Night Recap

In the SJHL, 

After dropping their first 9 games to start the season the Melville Millionaires are now winners of 2 straight after they slipped by the Flin Flon Bombers 6-4 on Saturday night from the Horizon Credit Union Centre. 

Tyson Predinchuk (2G 1A) and Keegan Milligan (1G 2A) led the way for the Mils with 3 points each while Ben Mack, Kirk Bear and Jake Tesarowski also scored the Moneymen. 

18 year old Brandon Wells made his 2nd straight win in the Mils net stopping 34 shots.

The Mils next action will be on Tuesday night when they welcome the Battlefords North Stars at 7:30. 


Meanwhile the Mils Highway 10 rivals, the Yorkton Terriers weren't as fortunate as they dropped a 5-1 game to the Humboldt Broncos. 

Carson Cayer scored the lone goal for the Terriers while Terrier net minder Matt Kustra made 29 saves in the losing cause. 

The Terriers will return to the ice on Election night Monday when they visit the Notre Dame Hounds at 8PM from the Duncan McNeil Arena in Wilcox.

Over in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, 

The Swan Valley Stampeders tied things up with 3 seconds left and they eventually won things in overtime to help them snap their 8 game losing with a 5-4 win in the shootout over the Winnipeg Blues. 

Tanner Koroscil, Gavin Froese and Josh Tripp had 1G 1A each while Evan Last had the other marker for the Stamps. 17 year old Grandview product Brett Evans was very good in the Swan net making 37 saves on 41 shots. 

The Stamps will look to win their 2nd straight when they start a 2 game road trip on Tuesday night when they visit the Selkirk Steelers. GX94 will broadcast the game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, pregame show 7:20 pop at 7:30PM MB time. 


Elsewhere in MJHL, 

The Wayway Wolverines dropped the 2nd game of the 2 game road trip 4-2 to the Winkler Flyers. 

Alex Keena and Brett Opperman had the Wolverine goals. Wayway goaltender Brandon Holtby made 29 saves in the loss. 

The Wolverines will have little time off before they host the Steinbach Pistons on Friday night, another game you can hear on GX94.
