Mils drop Sunday matinee, 4-3 in the shootout to Humboldt

The Melville Millionaires got a point but fell in the shootout on the road, 4-3 to the Humboldt Broncos on Sunday afternoon.

It wasn't the start the Mils were looking for on the road as it would be Broncos getting the opening marker as Jarrett Fontaine would capitalize on a Millionaire turnover and slip home his 5th goal of the season shorthanded to give the home team an earlier 1-0 lead. Then just 1:40 later, Rock Ruschkowski would add his 2nd goal of the season over the left pad of Brandon Wells to give the Broncos at 2-0 lead after 1 period. Shots 9-9.

Both teams would get off to a fast start to the middle frame but this time it would be the Mils getting the marker as Cole Filer who hammered home the loose puck for this 4th of the season to cut the Mils deficit to 1 at 2-1. The Mils would be able to even things up at the 10:05 mark as local product Tyler Kreklewich would deflect his 5th of the season by Bronco goalie Brett Clark to tie things up at 2-2 after 40 minutes. Shots in 2nd were 17-16 Millionaires.

The game would remain even till just over half way through the 3rd period when Tyler Kreklewich would slip home his 2nd of the night and 6th of the year to make it 3-2. But just 35 seconds later, Ruschkowski would add his 2nd of the afternoon to even it up once again at 3-3.

After overtime solved nothing the team would head to the shootout.
