Terriers get win streak snapped losing 4-2 in La Ronge

The Yorkton Terriers had their 3 game winning streak snapped on Friday night in La Ronge, losing 4-2 to the Ice Wolves. 

In the first the Ice Wolves got on the board first as Braiden Jakubowski would net his 6th of the season to give the home team an early 1-0 lead. It would stay like that until that til final seconds of the period as with 7 seconds left Derek Frater would backhand home his 2nd to give the Ice Wolves a 2-0 advantage after 1 period. Shots 16-13 La Ronge.

The Terriers would cut it within one just 7:46 into the 2nd as Shane Sherban would slip home his 6th of the season through the five-hole of Kris Joyce to make it a 2-1 game. The Ice Wolves would regain the 2 goal lead in the short-handed variety as Jared Blacquiere would steal it away from a Terrier defensemen and notch home his 6th to make it a 3-1 La Ronge lead. But just 18 seconds later, 20 year old veteran Kailum Gervais would jump on a loose puck and get his 1st of 2015/16 to make it a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes.

The Terriers would continue their strong play into the 3rd but just couldn't break through the La Ronge goaltender and then with just seconds to go, Cole Porter would ice it into the empty net for his team leading 12th of the season to give the Wolves, points in 7 straight and 4-2 victory.

Kris Joyce was incredible making 40 saves in the win while Jakob Severson stopped 32 shots in the loss.

These two teams will go right back at it on Saturday afternoon with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, pregame 2:20 pxp at 2:30.

In the MJHL, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines losing streak now sits at 3 games after 4-2 loss on the road to the Winnipeg Blues.

Ty Enns and Brayden Cullum scored for the Wolverines while Brandon Holtby made 35 saves in the losing cause.

The Wolverines continue their roady on Saturday in Selkirk against the Steelers at 7:30.
