Oil Caps dump Wayway 5-1 on Thursday night

The Virden Oil Capitals evened up the season series with the Wayway at a game apiece after beating the Wolverines 5-1 on Thursday night at Tundra Oil & Gas Place in Virden. 

The Oil Caps would get on the board first after a slow start for both sides as 13:18 in Mack Hardy would fire home his team leading 9th of the season to give Virden an early 1-0 lead. Wolverines would be able to convert on a PP goal just 2:13 later as Ty Enns would take a nice feed back door from Johl Swedlo and put home his 8th of the year to make it 1-1. But before the first period buzzer could go the Oil Caps would get a powerplay goal of their own as Nolan Ross would deflect home his 7th of the season give his team a 2-1 lead after 1 period. Shots 18-6 Virden.

After a scoreless 2nd, the Oil Caps would add their 2nd PP goal as Ben Dalke would bang home his 7th of the season to help Virden grab their first 2 goal lead at 3-1. The home team would add a couple more in the 3rd off the sticks as Nolan Ross and Mack Hardy would both grab their 2nd goals of the night to help the Oil Caps win their 13th game of the season a 5-1 decision over Waywayseecappo.

Sean Keuhn made 28 saves for his 12th win of the season in goal for Virden while Wayway netminder Brandon Holtby was sharp despite in a losing cause making 33 saves on 38 shots.

The Wolverines next action will be on Tuesday night when they welcome the Selkirk Steelers at the Wayway Arena Complex at 7:30.
