Terriers hang on for 4-3 win in Melfort

The Yorkton Terriers (8-1-0-1) moved into sole possession of 1st place in the Sherwood Conference with a 4-3 win over the Melfort Mustangs (5-6-0-0).

Melfort opened the scoring just 6 seconds into the game when Landon Belchamber capitalized on a turnover and made it 1-0. Tayler Thompson would tie it up on the Powerplay for the Terriers. Yorkton would make it 2-1 when Derek Falloon got a feed from Patrick Martens and made no mistake. Tyler Giebel would get his 1st of 2 on the night late in the 1st and it was 3-1 Terriers after 1.

The second period would produce two goals both coming from the Melfort Mustangs as Reagan Wilton and Brandon Fermosa would get the markers for the 'Stangs and it wasted at 3 after 40 minutes of play.

In the final period, early in the 3rd period Tyler Giebel would get his 2nd if game and 6th of the season and it would stand up as the GWG, despite a couple glorious chances the Terriers held off the 'Stangs charge and move into 1st in the Sherwood conference 2 points up on the idle Millionaires. Austin Buzzell would stop 22 of 25 for his 1st SJ win.

The Terrier return to action when they host the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Saturday night.

Until next time stay classy and goodnight from the bus
