Terriers' extend point streak to 3 games after SO loss in Wilcox

The Yorkton Terriers now have points in 3 straight games after a 4-3 shootout loss on the road to Notre Dame Hounds on Friday night.

The Terriers would strike first just 9:11 into the opening frame as Brendan Mark would make his way into the attacking zone and then find Slater Strong on a nice back-door feed and the Calgary product would tap home his 5th of the year to make it 1-0. They would add to their lead just 3:22 later, as Ben Solomon's long point shot would take a big bounce off the end boards and would come out to 18 year old Chantz Petruic and he would put home his 10th goal of the season that would make it 2-0 for the road team. But the Hounds would answer back, 1:18 after as former Yorkton Terrier and Moose Jaw product Kaleb Bell received a nice feed in front from Curtis Wiebe and slip in his 3rd through the five-hole of Joe Marcouiler to make it a 2-1 Terriers after 20 minutes. Shots 16-11 Notre Dame through 1 period.

The Hounds would even it up just 2:51 into the middle frame as Riley Perka would beat the Terrier goalie over the left pad for his 4th and that made 2-2. They would then grab their first lead of the night later on in the 2nd, as Zack Kosteniuk would go top shelf for his 10th of the season to make it 3-2 after 2 periods.

The visitors would get equalizer just over halfway through the third as Chantz Petruic would do a good job to keep it deep in the Hounds zone and then would finish off the play going bar down on Ryan for his 2nd of the night and 11th of the year to make it 3-3 to force extra time.

Overtime would solve nothing and in the shootout after the first two rounds produced no goals, Marshall Wilton would get the Hounds on the board and then Jake Ryan denied Brendan Mark to give the home team the extra point.

Jake Ryan made 24 saves in the Hounds goal to get his 11th victory of the season while Joe Marcouiler made 42 saves in the loss.

The two teams will go right back at it on Saturday as they wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule at the  Farrell Agencies Arena at 7:30.
