Local December 1st Deadline Recap


The Melville Millionaires were the busiest of our local teams before the Dec. 1st roster deadline hit.

First off the Mils traded F Luke Spadafora (00) and a 2020 4th round SJHL Draft pick to the Humboldt Broncos in exchange for forwards Zach McIntyre (01) & Spencer Weinkauf (01) and a player development fee.

McInytre who hails from Rhein, SK had 24 points in 30 games with the Broncos this season while Weinkauf, a Calgary product had 6 points in 19 games.

Meanwhile Spadafora was in his 2nd season with the Millionaires and in 69 career games in a Mils uniform he scored 25 goals and added 46 assists for 71 points.

So far this season, the Calgary product had 39 points in 30 games.

The Mils then traded 18 year old forward Jaden Hewes to the Truro Bearcats (MHL) in exchnage for future considerations.

Hewes netted two goals and two assists for 4 points in 22 games with the Mils.

Melville also sent G Ethan Lahmon (01) to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the MJHL in exchange for a player development fee.

Lahmon suited up for one game with the Mils and made 36 saves on 39 shots in a Mils victory over the Melfort Mustangs on November 6th.

That means the goalie tandem for the Mils will be that of 19 year old Berk Berkeliev and 18 year old Kaleb McEachern.

The Mils also announced that they released F Jack Verstraete (99).


The Yorkton Terriers dealt 19 year old F Jaxon Blight to the OCN Blizzard (MJHL) in exchange for a player development fee.

The Oakville, MB product was in his 2nd season with the Terriers and in 42 career games he had 1 goal, 8 assists for 9 points.


The Swan Vallley Stampeders traded F Kasyn Kruse (99) and F Cordell Coleman (01) to the Dauphin Kings for future considerations.

Coleman (Lac La Biche, AB) was pointless in 9 games with the Stamps this season.

Meanwhile Kruse who hails from Luverne, MN had 22 points in 53 games last season with the Stamps while this season he was held without a point in 2 games.

The Stamps then acquired F Ryley Lanthier (99) from the Canmore Eagles (AJHL) for a player development fee.

The Surrey, BC product had 7 goals, 9 assists for 16 points in 21 games with the Mustangs this season


The Waywayseecappo Wolverines' added some experience and size to their blue-line after picking up 20 year old defenceman Cody Thompson from the Portage Terriers in exchange for prospects F Brody Wilson (02) , D Ethan McColm (02) and future considerations.

Thompson played in 196 career games with the Terriers compiling 18 goals, 60 assists for 78 points while helping them capture 2 MJHL Championships and an Anavet Cup.

Wilson (Birtle, MB) has 22 points in 19 games with Yellowhead U18 AAA Chiefs while McColm (Oakbank, MB) has 6 points with the Eastman Selects (Manitoba U18 Hockey League)

The Wolverines also picked up G Ethan Lahmon (01) from Melville (SJHL) as mentioned above.
