Oct. 15th Local MJHL/ SJHL Recap

STAMPEDERS 2, TITANS 3 (SO)

The Swan Valley Stampeders earned a point on Friday night but they fell 3-2 in the shootout to the visiting Neepawa Titans.

After a scoreless first, the Stamps opened the scoring just 6:01 into the 2nd as Jordan Gagnon found big Cody Barnes back-door, who re-directed home his 5th of the season to give the Stamps a 1-0 lead. The Titans would respond quickly with a powerplay goal of their own as Connor Brust hammered home his 2nd of the season to pull the visitors back even.

Adam Rajsigl regained the Stamps' one goal lead late in the 2nd period on a nice feed from Brad Fortin to make it 2-1 Swan after 40 minutes.

Rylan Gudnason scored the only goal of the 3rd which would be the equalizer for Neepawa to force the overtime period.

After overtime solved nothing, both teams went back and forth in the shootout before R. Gudnason again was able to twinkle the twine to help them earn the extra point.

Emerik Demers made 28 saves in the Neepawa net to earn his 2nd win of the season while Stamps' G Dylan Black made 33 saves in the loss.

The two teams will battle again on Sunday night from the Yellowhead Center. GX94 will broadcast the game with the pregame starting at 6:20, and play by play getting underway at 6:30pM MB time.
