Local product helps Regina Thunder win 2022 PFC Championship

 THUNDER BECOME PFC CHAMPIONS 


             


The Regina Thunder captured the 2022 Prairie Football Conference championship beating the Saskatoon Hilltops 39-21 on Sunday at Mosaic Stadium. 

Quarterback Carter Shewchuk had one passing touchdown along with two rushing touchdowns. Running back, Ryland Leichert also had a pair of rushing touchdowns to lead the Thunder offence.

The Thunder roster included an abundance of local players including: Stephen Smith (Abernethy), Garion Miller, Reece McCormick, Garion Miller, Jaxon Boyda, Keane Szabo, Kenton Effa, Josh Kidd (all of Yorkton), Rylan Sokul (Wynyard), Matthew Schill, Justin Reiger, Owen Woidyla, Josh Woidyla, Tyson Colby (all of Indian Head).

The Thunder will now host the Okanagan Sun, which includes Yorkton product Noah Bymak in the National Final on Nov. 12 in Regina.
