Millionaires' drop 5-3 decision on road in Nipawin on Wednesday

For the 2nd time in 4 days the Melville Millionaires fell to the Hawks, this time a 5-3 decision at the Cage in Nipawin.

The Hawks struck first just 5:26 into the game as newcomer Chase Visser was able to sneak a re-direction just through the five-hole of Kelton Pyne for his 1st to make it 1-0.

They added to their lead on the PP just over 8 minutes as after a couple stellar stops from Pyne, the rebound came out to Carson Dobson who made no mistake for his sixth of the year to push the home teams lead to 2-0 after 20 minutes.

In the 2nd, Nipawin made it 3-0 just 31 seconds in as Zander Stewart was found back-door and sniped it over the left shoulder of the Mils netminder.

But the visitors responded rather quickly as Noah Wills broke his way into the zone and then feathered a nice pass over to Cooper Chisholm and he snapped it home over the left shoulder of Hawks G Jackson Fellner to get the Mils on the board.

Two minutes later they made it a one goal game as Nathan Fox was awarded a penalty shot after being hooked up on a break and he converted for his 5th to make it 3-2 Nipawin through 2 periods.

Aidan Robson evened things up for Melville just over 3 minutes into the 3rd as his seeing-eye wrister beat a screened Fellner to complete comeback at 3-3.

But the Hawks took the lead again and never looked back as Alex Johnson finished of a nice passing play and notched his 7th of the season on the PP making it 4-3 before Joel Mabin added the insurance a few minutes later.

Hawks' G Jackson Fellner earned his 2nd straight win against Melville making 24 saves, while Kelton Pyne in the Mils goal stopped 41 shots.

The Millionaires and Hawks will meet again on Sunday afternoon in Nipawin, but before that Melville has a home date with the Flin Flon Bombers on Friday at the HCUC.
