Terriers drop 2nd straight after road loss in Weyburn

The Yorkton Terriers dropped their 2nd straight on the road on Tuesday, falling 4-1 to the Weyburn Red Wings.

The Red Wings got off to quick start as Jackson Hassman walked across the Terrier blue-line and sniped home his 8th of the season over the right shoulder of Caleb Allen to make it 1-0 just 4:11 in.

But the Terriers' responded though just over three minutes later as Loghan Nimmo's long stretch pass found Cohner Saleski and he went forehand, backhand shelf for his 2nd to make it 1-1.

The Terriers had some great chances with back to back PP's to grab the lead but they came up empty going 0 for 2 on the man advantage in the first.

Just before the 1st period buzzer would go off the Wings regained their one goal lead back as Jakob Kalin banged home his 8th of the season past Allen making it a one goal through 20 minutes.

In the 2nd, it was a back & forth type period with both teams getting some good chances but Weyburn got the only goal as Ty Mason finished off a nice passing play from Ethan Whillians in the final minute to give the home-side a two goal advantage after 40 minutes.

The Red Wings got the only goal in third in the final minute as Jackson Hassman iced it into the empty net for his 2nd of the evening.

Weyburn goalie Matt Schoephoerster made 39 saves on 40 shots to earn his 1st win as a Red Wing, while Caleb Allen in the Terrier net made 33 saves.

The Terriers return to action on Friday night visiting the Melfort Mustangs.
