Jan. 9th Local SJHL/MJHL Recap





MILLIONAIRES 6, RED WINGS 4

Jadon Iyogun scored game winner with 24.9 seconds left to lead the Melville Millionaires to a big 6-4 road win over their Viterra division rival Weyburn Red Wings on Tuesday night. 

Brendan Olson scored twice while Liam Cox-Smith, Caden Drury and Colby Ball also scored for the Millionaires who battled back a couple times from two-goal deficits.

Jerome Maharaj, Logan Greenough, Jacob Visentini and Cade Meiklejohn replied for the Red Wings as they dropped their 2nd straight.

William Dyke made 31 saves on 35 shots to earn the victory in goal for Melville, who return to action on Sunday night hosting the Nipawin Hawks at 6:00PM.

TERRIERS 1, BRONCOS 5


Anthony Domina scored the lone goal for Yorkton as the Terriers fell 5-1 on the road to the Humboldt Broncos.

Cage Newans led the way for Humboldt with 2 goals while Matthew Van Blaircom, Connor Miller and Spencer Bell chipped in with singles.

Benjamin Motew made 30 saves to earn the victory while Terriers' G Ethan Farrow turned aside 37 shots in the loss.

The Terriers return to action on Saturday visiting the Weyburn Red Wings.

STAMPEDERS 2, OIL CAPITALS 5 

The Swan Valley Stampeders were on the road and dropped a 5-2 decision to the Virden Oil Capitals on Tuesday night.

Evan Groening, Nolan Chastko, Roux Bazin, Ethan Guthrie and Grady Lane scored for the Oil Capitals who got 24 saves from Eric Reid in the win.

Dobie Unrau opened the scoring for the Stamps while Darius Makse had the other.

Elias Giaccari-Dimitriou turned aside 50 shots in the loss.

The Stampeders return to action on Friday night visiting the Steinbach Pistons.
