Stampeders drop 2nd straight after Thursday road loss in Waywayseecappo

 STAMPEDERS 1, WOLVERINES 2

The Swan Valley Stampeders fell in their 2nd straight game on Thursday night after a 2-1 loss to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

After a scoreless 1st period, the Wolverines opened up the scoring 13:48 into the second short-handed as Ryan Jossy capitalized on a turnover and went in alone on Stamps’ netminder Elias Giaccarri-Dimitriou & beat him over the left shoulder for his 6th of the year.

Ben Roulette added to their lead in the 2nd making 2-0 on the power play deflecting home an Aidan Moser point shot for his 15th of the season with just 17 seconds left.

The Stampeders cut their deficit in half almost halfway through the 3rd period as Will Brown tucked in his 2nd of the season but that’s as close as they would get.

Wolverines goaltender Jase Wareham made 23 saves on 24 shots to earn his 6th victory of the season, while Elias Giaccarri-Dimitriou made 47 stops in the loss.

The Stampeders return to action on Saturday in The Pas against the Blizzard, while the Wolverines’ next game is on Sunday against the Winkler Flyers.
