Mils gain a point beating Yorkton in shootout; Stamps win big on home ice over Selkirk; Wayway falls on the road in Portage

The Melville Millionaires won the 8th meeting of the Highway 10 battle tonight (Fri) on home ice, 3-2 in the shootout over the Yorkton Terriers at the Horizon Credit Union Center.

The Terriers would strike first at the 12:11 mark of the 1st as Brandon Sookro would bang home his team leading 23rd of the season to give them an early 1-0 lead. The Mils would even it up 4 minutes later as Keegan Milligan would take a nice cross ice feed and go top shelf on Jakob Severson for his 8th to tie things up at 1-1 after 20 minutes.

After a scoreless 2nd period, the Mils would grab their first lead at 6:18 of the 3rd as Cole Filler would back home his 12th of the season to give the home team a 2-1 advantage. It would stay like that until 1:32 remaining as Terrier Co-Captain Corwin Stevely would sneak one through Brandon Wells to give the visitors the equalizer at 2-2.

After overtime solved nothing, the two teams would head to the shootout where only 1 of the 6 combined shooters would score and that would be Cole Filler (pictured above) on a nice move to give the Mils their 15th win of the season a 3-2 decision.

Brandon Wells got his 11th victory of the season for the Mils stopping 31 of 33 shots while Terrier net minder Jakob Severson made 24 saves in the loss.

These two teams will go right back at it on Saturday afternoon at 2PM from the Farrell Agencies Arena. Pregame show 1:50 with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey on GX94.
