Terriers clinch SJHL playoff spot; MJHL races become lot more interesting






The Yorkton Terriers came from 4-1 down to tie things up but they lose in the shootout 5-4 to the Kindersley Klippers.

The Terriers with the point do clinch a SJHL playoff spot after missing the playoffs last season.

Jordan McCausland, Corwin Stevely, Kevin Wolf and Tyler Baier scored for the Terriers while Jakob Severson made 37 saves in the SO loss.

The Terriers return to ice on Friday when they host the defending  SJHL champion Melfort Mustangs at 7:30 from the FAA.

In Melville,

The Melville Millionaires were officially eliminated from the postseason losing 5-2 on home ice to the visiting Nipawin Hawks.

Christian Stevens and Keegan Milligan scored for the Mils while Brandon Wells made 33 saves in the loss.

The Mils will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2004/05.

The Mils' next action will be on Wednesday night when they host the Estevan Bruins at 7:30.

In Winnipeg,

The Swan Valley Stampeders for the 2nd straight night got a point but fell in overtime, this time 5-4 to the Winnipeg Blues.

Josh Tripp led the way with 1G 2A while Conor Navrot, Peter Matthews & Cody Ellingson also replied for the Stampeders.

Local product Quinn Munro made his MJHL debut and made 30 saves in the SO loss.

The Stamps are now tied with OCN for 6th in the standings and next action will be Wednesday when they host the Dauphin Kings. GX94 will broadcast game with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey, pregame 7:20 pxp at 7:30.

Rhett Lough had a 3rd period Hat Trick to make things interesting for Wayway but they eventual fell for the 2nd straight night to the OCN Blizzard 4-3.

The Wolverines' next action is on Wednesday when they host the OCN Blizzard at 7:30.
