Mils; Stamps & Wolverines all lose in Wednesday Night Jr. A Action

The Swan Valley Stampeders lost their 4th straight game on Wednesday night, 7-3 to the visiting Dauphin Kings at the Centennial Arena.

After a sluggish start for both sides to begin the 1st, the Stamps would grab control towards the midway point and would have some glorious chances including Brayden Groot who was close to getting his 1st MJHL goal but he rang it right off the iron. But the Kings would be the only team who would convert as Graham Hore would walk out from the left corner and flip it over the right shoulder of Brett Evans for his 8th goal of the season, a PP goal to give the Kings a 1-0 lead over Swan after 1. Shots 9-5 Stamps.

In the 2nd, the Stamps would strike first and even things up just 42 seconds in as Cody Ellingson would poke home his 13th of the year to make it 1-1. But then the Kings would explode with 4 goals in span of 8:36 in the middle frame off the sticks of Riese Gaber (1st MJHL goal), Kirklan Lycar shorthanded (22nd), Landon Plett on PP (15th) and Keaton Leininger (15th) to go up 5-1. Trevor Mann would add one late with 2:50 to go in the 2nd by Trevor Mann, his 11th of the season to cut the Wolverines' within 3 a 5-2 Dauphin lead after 40 minutes.

In the 3rd, Connor Navrot would notch home his 8th of the season to cut the Stamps within 2 at 5-3. But just 30 seconds later, Kings' Captain Tyler Garrioch would back hand home his 14th to make it a 6-3 lead. Trevor Kavanaugh would add another one late for the Kings' on the PP to give the Kings a 7-3 victory.

Jarod Schamerhorn made 27 saves to get his 10th win of the season for the Kings' while Brett Evans made 17 saves on 21 shots in the losing.

The Stamps return to action this weekend for a couple of home games as on Saturday they host the Portage Terriers and host the Steinbach Pistons on Sunday evening.


Elsewhere in the MJHL,

With the Stamps loss and the Wayway Wolverines losing to the OCN Blizzard on Wednesday night, 3-1, the Blizzard are now 3 points ahead of Swan for 6th place the MJHL standings.

Layne Anderson had the lone goal for the Wolverines' while Troy Martyniuk made 29 saves in the loss.

The Wolverines' next game will be on Sunday when they host the Virden Oil Capitals. Pregame 7:20, pxp at 7:30 with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey on Gx94.



In the SJHL on Wednesday in Melville, the Millionaires dropped their 3rd to last home game of the season 4-1 to the Estevan Bruins.

Tyler Kreklewich's 14th goal of the season on the PP was the only marker of the season for the Mils.

The Mils' next action will be on Friday night when they visit the EPA in Humboldt to take on the Broncos. Pregame 7:20, pxp at 7:30 with Yorkton Dodge Junior Hockey on GX94.
